Women's Healthcare Associates is seeking a Mammography Supervisor who will supervise, direct, and coordinate mammography staff functions by ensuring the staff operates efficiently and effectively. In this role you would also be responsible for executing quality bone density in a timely and professional manner by operating bone densitometry (DXA) equipment to produce quality images.


  • Responsible for departmental goal setting and direction of department functions.  Works with Practice Manager to determine department long term goals and needs.
  • Establishes department priorities by answering questions and requests; establishes quality standards, methods and procedures; schedules activities and employees; monitors progress; revises schedules and resolves problems.
  • Manages performance, training, development and scheduling of mammography staff.  Works with Practice Manager in the hiring and termination process.  Writes and conducts mammography staff performance evaluations. Documents performance and attendance.
  • Responsible for employment and selection decisions. Completes and forwards employment requisitions for personnel replacements to Human Resources.  Interviews, checks references and makes hiring decisions for new employees, in coordination with Practice Manager and Human Resources.  Partners with Practice Manager and Human Resources to resolve compensation issues and determine starting pay for new hires.
  • Coaches, trains and develops mammography staff and promotes teamwork within WHA. 
  • Coordinates agendas and conducts department meetings.
  • Ensures mammography staff understand and follow OSHA requirements, company and department guidelines, policies and procedures and protocols.
  • Performs the duties of a Mammography Technologist as outlined in the relevant job description and depending upon individual's qualifications.
  • Ensures mammography staff have appropriate licensure, certification and training to provide patient care. Assures that all technologists and radiologists are in compliance with the proper licenses and continuing education required for FDA inspections.
  • Maintains American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation reports.
  • Assures that all ACR and MQSA standards are met.
  • Oversees FDA inspections at Northwest Gynecology-Peterkort, Northwest Gynecology-Tualatin, Oregon City, and Lloyd clinics. Oversees semi-annual PMS on mammography machines at all clinics.
  • Oversees all Hologic services done at all mammography clinics. Oversees the yearly  review of EQUIP with Supervising Radiologist and the yearly review of all QC records with Supervising Radiologist.
  • Monitors quality assurance program in accordance with the American College of Radiology and the FDA standards; Artifact Evaluation (weekly), SNR and CNR measurements (weekly), Phantom Image (weekly), Detector Flat-Field Calibration (weekly), Compression Thickness Indicator (biweekly), Visual Check (monthly), Repeat Analysis (quarterly), Compression (semiannually), All monitor QC from Radiologists workstation.
  • Performs bone densitometry procedures in the highest quality for interpretation.
  • Monitors quality assurance in accordance with the State of Oregon Board of Radiology Technologists and the FDA ISCD standards; Phantom QC on Procedure Day.
  • Makes independent decisions regarding quality bone densitometry.
  • Reports any changes in quality assurance testing or quality of the bone densitometry.
  • Provides protection for patient and self in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Provides quality bone densitometry with the least amount of discomfort.
  • Recognizes and records variances from normal equipment function and reports the need for service.
  • Enters all bone densitometry results into the patient's medical record in the EMR. Sends the final DXA report and DXA scan images to HIM  within a timely manner. Forwards scan results to the primary care physician as requested by patient.


  • Advanced certificate in mammography, or an associate's degree or higher in radiologic technology required.  Eligible to sit for the mammography certification exam required.
  • Registered and in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Current license with the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging required.
  • Minimum of 40 hours of documented training specific to mammography, as designated by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).
  • Current license with the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging as a Limited X-Ray Machine Operator in Bone Densitometry,  or current license with the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging in Radiography and ARRT certified.
  • Certified Bone Densitometry Technologist (CBDT) preferred.
  • Advanced certificate in bone densitometry required.
  • Specialized bone densitometry training required.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Proven effective communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with others required.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, breast physiology, breast abnormalities and clinical breast exams.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiology, including equipment, body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Basic and advanced skills in proper patient positioning and immobilization.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
  • Ability to lead at a high level of excellence and to train others in the essential job functions for the position(s) for which they are responsible.
  • Demonstrated success in service excellence and quality improvement.
  • Current driver's license and vehicle, or ability to procure transportation to other clinics or meeting sites.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Ability to demonstrate the Values Statement and The Patient Experience of WHA.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
